Yaoundé, Cameroon – 4 May 2026 — Heads of Anti-Corruption Agencies from across Commonwealth Africa are convening in Yaoundé, Cameroon, for the 16th Commonwealth Regional Conference of Heads of Anti-Corruption Agencies in Africa, which officially opened today at the Yaoundé Conference Centre.
The conference, hosted by Cameroon through the National Anti-Corruption Commission (CONAC), has brought together over 200 delegates from more than 25 countries, including Heads of Anti-Corruption Agencies, policymakers, and international partners.
Opening Session Underway
The official opening ceremony is currently in progress, with welcome remarks being delivered by the Chairman of CONAC, Reverend Dr. Dieudonné Massi Gams.
In his address, the Chairman is welcoming delegates to Cameroon and emphasising the importance of collective action, institutional cooperation, and sustained commitment in addressing corruption across the region. He is highlighting the need for strengthened collaboration among anti-corruption agencies to respond effectively to evolving corruption risks, including cross-border and technology-enabled crimes.
The Chairman is further underscoring the importance of the conference as a platform for dialogue, peer learning, and practical engagement, aimed at strengthening institutional capacity and reinforcing regional partnerships.
Conference Theme:
The 16th edition of the conference is being held under the theme:
“Deploying Artificial Intelligence in the Fight Against Corruption in Commonwealth Africa.”
The theme reflects the growing significance of technology and innovation in enhancing anti-corruption systems, while recognising the need to anchor such tools within robust governance frameworks, accountability mechanisms, and ethical standards.

The conference brings together a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including:
- Heads of Anti-Corruption Agencies across Commonwealth Africa
- Senior government officials and policymakers
- Regional and international partners
